Nancy Peterson, Ph.D. is a clinical and health psychologist with over 20 years of experience providing compassionate, scientifically-validated treatment for adolescents, adults, parents and families.  Her clinical practice focuses on helping people to bring mindfulness to daily life, so they can respond more skillfully to difficulties with attention, emotions, parenting, chronic illness, and other life stress.

Nancy earned her doctorate degree in clinical and health psychology from Case Western Reserve University and completed an internship at Children’s National Medical Center.  Prior to moving to private practice, she directed mental health programs for adolescents and adults at Children’s National Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Nancy completed her MBSR training through the Center for Mindfulness in Worcester, Massachusetts, including a professional training with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli and an intensive practicum with Melissa Blacker and Florence Meleo-Meyer.  She completed her intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Katherine Korslund and Suzanne Witterholt, as well as a short-course on integrating mindfulness into psychotherapy with Marsha Linehan.

Nancy offers individual MBSR and group classes on mindful parenting.  She provides training and consultation in mindfulness-based treatment approaches in the US and abroad.  She has a longstanding meditation practice and enjoys dance, photography and being a step-parent to two teenagers.
